A client who came back
This client already knew us well. We had built an extension at their home and fully fitted out their offices. So when they bought a tired two-bedroom bungalow to flip and wanted to turn it into a proper family home, they called MPD again.
The brief
The bungalow had good bones, but it was run down and far too small for a family. The client wanted a lot more space, more bedrooms and a layout that worked for family life, without having to move again.
Working alongside the architect
MPD was appointed early and worked closely with the project architect from the start. We also helped design the internal layout. That meant we could bring practical, on-site experience into the design stage, so the plans weren't just good on paper but straightforward to build. It also helped keep the programme and budget on track.
What we delivered
A whole new first floor. We added a full storey to the original bungalow, which created:
- Four double bedrooms, including a principal bedroom with en suite
- A family bathroom
A reworked ground floor, which now includes:
- Two front reception rooms
- A downstairs double bedroom with its own en suite, ideal for guests or relatives
- A large open family kitchen at the heart of the home
- A huge utility room, built for real family life
External works finished the project, so the outside of the house matches the transformation inside.
