What the client wanted
A brand new family home that looked as though it had always belonged in the village. The plot sits in a designated conservation area, so anything built here had to earn its place. The ask was simple to say and hard to do: a house that reads as traditional from the street, but lives like a modern, low energy home inside.
What we did
We built the home from the ground up, working side by side with the architect. We installed an air source heat pump, solar panels and a high performance building fabric for exceptional insulation and thermal efficiency. We fitted a fully integrated smart system that gives the homeowners complete control of lighting, heating, climate and multi room audio, from wall panels or their phones. We hand crafted and installed bespoke oak joinery throughout, laid marble stone flooring on the ground floor and herringbone wood upstairs, and built bespoke wall panelling in the living room. A striking front gable, an elegant staircase and a master bedroom with a hidden walk in wardrobe finish the home.
Challenges we overcame
We worked inside a very strict planning framework. The property sits in a protected setting surrounded by mature trees under preservation orders, so every decision, from access and foundations to the building footprint, had to respect both the planning conditions and the landscape. Balancing that with the exacting standard the client wanted for the bespoke oak throughout is what made this build so rewarding to deliver.
